Thomas
Leeman has made his home in the valley since 1993, but has frequented
the area for more than twenty years with his wife, Margaret, their children,
grandchildren, and other family members. What started as a hobby for Tom
after an early retirement from Ford Motor Company, has become a fascinating
new way of life.
Tom had a
flair for art as a youngster, but didn't get really serious until about
five years ago as interest in his work was generated in both the casual
and serious collector. Now his vibrant creations brighten homes and galleries
from South Texas to Michigan. His collection of awards and honors indicates
Tom has received recognition from both his peers and show judges. Using
oils, watercolors, mixed media and other artistic outlets including sculpting,
Tom has been creating colorful moments of life. "I have been accused of
using colors too brightly, but you know, I celebrate life and I just think
I am happy every morning when I get up. And I paint the way I feel," he
says.
While Thomas'
favorite topic is painting women in various familiar situations, he also
creates artistic masterpieces around other themes. Thomas has studied
and taught art in Michigan, California, and Texas. He is affiliated with
various art leagues in Texas, and in Michigan where he spends time each
summer. His works can be viewed at various locations around the valley,
on the Island, and at locations in Michigan, Florida, and South Dakota.
He does accept commission work.
